God instructed the Israelites to build the Tabernacle as a place where His presence would dwell among them (Exodus 25:8). The Tabernacle included the Ark of the Covenant and was the center of Israel's worship during their journey in the wilderness.
"Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them." (Exodus 25:8)
"Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you." (Exodus 25:9)
"The glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle." (Exodus 40:34)
God instructed Moses to tell the Israelites to build a tabernacle, which would be a portable place of worship where God's presence would dwell among His people. The people brought offerings of gold, silver, bronze, cloth, and wood to build the tabernacle and its furnishings.
The tabernacle included the Ark of the Covenant, the altar, the lampstand, the table for bread, and the curtain that separated the Most Holy Place from the rest of the tabernacle. Skilled workers built everything according to the instructions God gave to Moses.
When the tabernacle was completed, a cloud covered it and the glory of the Lord filled it. This showed that God was present with His people as they traveled through the wilderness.

There are many dozens of bible narratives that have become deeply engrained in western culture. Most are best understood when the culture and customs that surround them are known.
Also, the study of history and archeology often provide us with a foundation for a more complete picture of people and events found within bible narratives.
Evidence continues to be discovered in architectural inscriptions, artwork and other artifacts that encourage us to believe in the historicity of the bible.
