Moab
Economy and Trade
Moab's economy depended heavily on agriculture and livestock. Its uplands provided grazing land for sheep and goats, while cultivated areas produced grain and other crops.
The biblical account of Mesha describes him as a sheep breeder who supplied large numbers of animals and wool as tribute to Israel (2 Kings 3:4).
Moab also benefited from routes connecting Arabia, Transjordan, and the lands west of the Jordan River. Trade and control of agricultural territory were important sources of wealth.
