Moab
Government
Moab was ruled by kings who exercised authority over towns, agricultural lands, and surrounding communities. The capital most clearly associated with the historically documented monarchy was Dibon.
The Mesha Stele shows that the king could direct military campaigns, construct public buildings, improve water supplies, and dedicate monuments to the national god. Moabite kingship combined political authority with religious responsibilities.
