Economy and Trade
Agriculture, livestock, and the movement of goods through northern Mesopotamia supported the kingdom. Its location connected the Tigris valley with routes toward Armenia, Iran, and southern Mesopotamia. Royal wealth allowed Helena and Izates to send substantial assistance to Jerusalem during a famine, although the surviving sources do not permit a precise reconstruction of the kingdom’s revenues or trading system.
