BETH-HARAN
Places & Geography - Old Testament
A fenced city east of the Jordan, identical with Beth-haram. It was assigned to Gad and appears in Numbers 32:36.
BETH-HOGLAH
Places & Geography - Old Testament
A town called the “house of the partridge,” located between Jericho and the Jordan. It was assigned to Judah and Benjamin in the boundary descriptions of Joshua.
Beth-horon

The upper and lower towns of Beth-horon stood on the important road between Gibeon and the western plain. The pass was the scene of Joshua’s victory and several later battles.
BETH-HORON, THE BATTLE OF

The battle in which Joshua defeated the Amorites near Gibeon and pursued them through the Beth-horon ascent. The Lord aided Israel with a remarkable sign involving the sun and moon and with hailstones that struck the fleeing army.

A town east of the Jordan near the Dead Sea where Israel camped before crossing into Canaan. It was allotted to Reuben and later associated with Moab.

A place mentioned during David's flight from Absalom, literally “the Far House.” It may have been the outermost house of the city rather than a distinct town.

A city assigned to Gad east of the Jordan, also called Nimrah or Nimrim. It was associated with a large spring and was located north of Livias.

A town in the territory of Issachar, named with En-gannim and En-haddah. Its site has not been discovered but was probably near Jenin.

One of the southernmost cities of Judah near the border of Edom. Its site is unknown; the name means “house of escape.”

A place in Moab opposite Jericho, near the valley where Israel camped and where Moses was buried. Its exact site is uncertain.

A village on the Mount of Olives near Jerusalem and Bethany. Jesus passed by it on the way to Jerusalem shortly before his crucifixion.

A name appearing only in the genealogy of 1 Chronicles 4:12. It cannot now be confidently identified as a particular place or clan.
BETH-REHOB

An Aramean town and district that assisted Ammon against David. It was probably near Rehob, the northern limit reached by the spies, but its precise site is unknown.
