Hor

Places & Geography • Old Testament

Hor means “mountain” and names two places: the mountain in the region of Edom where Aaron died, and a landmark on the northern boundary of Israel.

Biblical Usage

Israel reached Mount Hor during its wilderness journey after the Edomites refused passage. Aaron died there. The other Hor appears only in the description of Israel’s northern boundary.
