Ramesses III was the last great warrior pharaoh of the New Kingdom and successfully defended Egypt against major external threats, including the Sea Peoples. His reign also produced extensive building projects, but growing economic and political problems foreshadowed Egypt's later decline.
Ramesses IV

New Kingdom

c. 1155-1149 BC
Ramesses IV succeeded his father Ramesses III and pursued an ambitious program of temple construction and quarrying expeditions. Despite these efforts to emulate earlier Ramesside greatness, Egypt's political and economic power continued to diminish during his reign.
Ramesses V

New Kingdom
20th Dynasty
c. 1149-1145 BC
Ramesses V ruled briefly during a period of increasing economic difficulty and weakening royal authority. Important administrative documents from his era provide valuable evidence about landholding, taxation, and temple wealth in late New Kingdom Egypt.
